Litter Screen on YouTube
We created this for our own bunnies many years ago,
and it's still in great shape. It saved us money on litter and kept
our bunnies feet clean, so now we've decided to share what's worked
for us, with you!
As we all know rabbits like to get into their box not
only to do their "business" but to also hang out and eat hay. They
will get in and out many times throughout one 24 hour period. By
doing this, the unused litter gets mixed with the urine soaked
litter, poos and hay pieces, making it difficult to scoop the bad
without wasting alot of the good. With the screen, it allows
the urine to soak through into a nice neat confined area which is
easy to scoop up, and the poos sit on top of the screen, making
them easy to throwout, while preserving the litter
NOTE: If you use sheets of paper or shredded
paper for litter, this screen will not work well with
it. -- Needs to be an absorbent litter like compressed
pellets of paper or wood.
Plus, the fact it is so easy to just lift the screen
and dump the poos daily makes it a cleaner place for your bunnies
to hang out in. And if your bunny is a "digger" and loves to make a
mess of his habitat, then this is the perfect
When you put hay in the box like we do, the screen
makes it even that much easier to separate it all and then just
scoop out the soaked litter spots.
The galvanized metal handles acidic aspect of urine
very well, and the tightly woven mesh screen makes it easier on
bunnies sensitive hocks.
We've had the same litter box screen for over five
years now and it's going strong--and with no less than two bunnies
at one time it gets alot of action! Plus, it has held up very
well against our scrub brushes and soaking when needed.
you have a larger bunny, a rex breed, or a bunny that likes to hang
out in the litterbox, then we advise you to put a a little hay over
the screen (as we did in the video) so that your bunnies feet are
Medium 3 oz
Large 5 oz
From Molly Schaeffer of Ames, Iowa on 2/16/2014.
I really like the screen for dumping poop and dirty hay in between litter box clean outs. My bun liked to chew on the edges a bit at first but he stopped after a day or two. He also didn't like to stand on just the screen but putting some hay over it solved that problem.
Litter box screen solved our problem!
From Sophia Yin of Davis, California on 11/21/2013.
We ordered your litter box screen because our foster rabbit Phoebe loved hanging out in her hay box, and pottying there too. But hay doesn’t absorb urine, and even with a thick layer of hay Phoebe’s feet got soaked in urine. Since we got the screen, we put absorbent pellets beneath it and hay on top . . .
I love this screen!
From Gina of Sydney, Australia on 11/18/2013.
The litter box screen makes keeping the cleaning the litter trays SO MUCH EASIER. I am also only going through about half as much litter as I used to, and I don't need to empty the litter tray as much anymore either. The bunnies don't mind it at all. I have been using it for 4 months now and it is still . . .
poops on top, pee runs through
From DJ Colwell of Rockleigh, New Jersey on 11/14/2013.
I got this in hopes that less poop would be flung around when my bun hopped out of the box. It has cut the amount down somewhat but poop still gets flung around. The upside is that no litter gets flung around and it's very easy to clean the poops out (just lift the screen and dump in the trash) and . . .

A real problem-solver for 'liitter-kickers'
From Chris of Tacoma, Washington on 10/25/2013.
I purchased several sizes of these screens, for different sized litterboxes. This is a repeat order, as I have been very pleased with these. Quality is very good, price reasonable, and you can't find anything similar elsewhere. These are good for rabbits who like to kick/dig their litter out of the box . . .
Impedes my bunstruction
From Dylan aka Bunnyzilla of Belleville, Michigan on 10/20/2013.
*sigh* One of my favorite things to do was dig out the dirty litter from my litter box. I especially liked to dig out the stinky dirty litter when I was mad about something, like being told "No" when I was trying to pull the baseboards off the walls or if I got sent to bed early for being naughty. . . .
