Animals love the sweet smell and taste of leafy Oxbow Orchard Grass Hay, and that makes it a good addition to an herbivore's healthy meal plan. Like other long-strand grass hays, the soft-textured Orchard Grass Hay is high in fiber, low in protein and supports the health of small herbivores by stimulating digestion, preventing obesity and making mealtime more appealing. Mix Orchard Grass Hay with other Oxbow grass hays to create a sweet and nutritious combination. Orchard Grass is a green, fruity-smelling grass hay which many small animals enjoy. To the untrained eye, it looks identical to timothy grass, but the seed heads have a different shape. Orchard Grass is a perennial cool season grass with flat leaf blades. The leaves vary in color from green to bluish-green depending on the maturity of the plant. The lower surface of the leaf is not shiny; and leaf sheaths can be somewhat rougher to the touch than timothy. When animals are fed free-choice hay, it promotes their natural chewing behavior, which helps prevent molar spurs and other dental problems that are so common in these small herbivores. Free-choice means that the feed is available at all times. If they finish what is given, you need to give them more! Hay should not only be used for nutritional purposes, but also for mental stimulation and the promotion of natural foraging behavior
NOTES:
Orchard Grass can be fed free choice to rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, prairie dogs and other herbivores as an alternative to timothy, oat hay, and brome.
Orchard Grass is recommended by veterinarians for small herbivores due to the nutritional content.
Orchard Grass can be mixed with other grass hays when feeding your pet. This is encouraged because animals seem to like the variety. Mixing your grasses will encourage them to eat more hay, which is beneficial to the health of the animal. Hay is absolutely vital to the health of small herbivores.
Orchard Grass also provides a long-strand fiber source that is needed to improve the digestive and intestinal functions by stimulating the digestive system.

Great hay for picky bunny's! She's allergic to Timothy unfortunately so finding subs was hard because she is so picky. It's good quality, nice and easy to pick up without breaking apart. Color and quality was consistent throughout the bag.

Amazingly fresh!
As soon as I opened up my box from binkybunny the difference between the walmart timothy hay and Oxbow's hay was extremely apparent. Sooooooo sweet and fresh smelling! It took my guy a little bit of time to warm up to the Orchard hay, but he's enjoying it now and I think he likes having the variety. (I'm mixing this with Oxbow's western timothy hay) Such a relief because he stopped eating the hay for almost a month, I needed him to start eating hay again and this did the trick!
NOTE: Hay is a natural product. The same variety of hay can vary in courseness, color and length by season.
Hay is extremely important for a bunny’s digestive system. Always have it available. My bunnies eat more hay when they have a variety of hays.
Hay Tip – A great trick that encourages more hay consumption is add a little fresh hay on top of the existing hay, or take the hay that has been sitting there all day, put in back in the bag, mix it around and grab a new big handful. I don’t know why this works – maybe the fresh scent of hay being resurfaced – For some reason this entices them to eat more, even though they still had plenty of hay in their rack.
