Hay Information

NOTE: Hay is a natural product. The same variety of hay can vary in courseness, color and length by season.

Hay is extremely important for a bunny’s digestive system. Always have it available. My bunnies eat more hay when they have a variety of hays.

Hay Tip – A great trick that encourages more hay consumption is add a little fresh hay on top of the existing hay, or take the hay that has been sitting there all day, put in back in the bag, mix it around and grab a new big handful. I don’t know why this works – maybe the fresh scent of hay being resurfaced – For some reason this entices them to eat more, even though they still had plenty of hay in their rack.

It's important they don't become satiated and neglect their essential high-fiber diet, crucial for maintaining a healthy digestive system. Great product

I got the Western Timothy flavor. These kept my bunnies busy for hours, they loved chewing and ripping them apart and a bit of tossing them around. The hay was also fresh and the whole thing was a gorgeous shade of green. No dust too.

Increased Consumption vs. Loose Hay

Wick's appetite for loose Oxbow timothy hay was dwindling from pickiness and difficulty eating it because of his teeth/jaw problems. The hay stacks, though I have to break them apart for him, seem to be chocked full of strands he likes more than a handful of timothy hay. The scrunched texture is also easier for him to grip and chew on, rather than all straight loose pieces. The quality of the hay out of the box is good too.
