We created this for our own bunnies many years ago, and it's still in great shape. It saved us money on litter and kept our bunnies feet clean, so now we've decided to share what's worked for us, with you! As we all know rabbits like to get into their box not only to do their "business" but to also hang out and eat hay. They will get in and out many times throughout one 24 hour period. By doing this, the unused litter gets mixed with the urine soaked litter, poos and hay pieces, making it difficult to scoop the bad without wasting a lot of the good. With the screen, it allows the urine to soak through into a nice neat confined area which is easy to scoop up, and the poos sit on top of the screen, making them easy to throw out, while preserving the litter below.
NOTE:
If you use sheets of paper or shredded paper for litter, this screen will not work well with it.-- Needs to be an absorbent litter like compressed pellets of paper or wood. Plus, the fact it is so easy to just lift the screen and dump the poos daily makes it a cleaner place for your bunnies to hang out in. And if your bunny is a "digger" and loves to make a mess of his habitat, then this is the perfect solution. When you put hay in the box like we do, the screen makes it even that much easier to separate it all and then just scoop out the soaked litter spots. The galvanized metal handles acidic aspect of urine very well, and the tightly woven mesh screen makes it easier on bunnies sensitive hocks. We've had the same litter box screen for over five years now and it's going strong--and with no less than two bunnies at one ti me it gets a lot of action! Plus, it has held up very well against our scrub brushes and soaking when needed.
CARE:
Wash it will soap and water whenever you change the litter or it appears dirt.
If you start to see mineral buildup, white or yellowish color, soak the screen with vinegar for a few minutes. Rinse the screen with water after you have soaked it. Don't let the vinegar stay on to long as it will remove the galvanization from the wire and decrease the life of your screen.
CAUTION:
- IF you have a larger bunny, a rex breed, or a bunny that likes to hang out in the litter box, then we advise you to put a a little hay over the screen (as we did in the video) so that your bunnies feet are fully protected.
- When Cleaning with Vinegar: Do not soak in vinegar mixture more than a minute at a time otherwise over time, if you leave even galvanized screens in vinegar or vinegar mixture for long periods, it will erode at that galvanized coating

I was sweeping litter box litter off of my floor multiple times per day and nothing I tried would deter my rabbit from the fun of making a mess. I purchased this screen after many failed attempts at stopping the digging, and was not convinced it would work, but it has! I am surprised and pleased.
Screen arrived in perfect condition with the exact measurements as ordered. It fits perfectly in my X-large litterboxes!
These are such a lifesaver and great products! They help keep their litter boxes clean and tidy, while at the same time stopping them from kicking out their litter! They love it so much that it keeps things cleaner, that now one of my bunnies lounges and sleeps in his litter box. I also feel like it helps them decipher what a digging box is vs their actual litter box. It also makes things so much quicker to clean out since you can just quickly dump their poos/hay and replace it with fresh hay. Things were soo messy in their room before I found these products. I have ordered them several times now! I have ordered many Large Litter Box & Screen Kits, and just recently received my Custom Screen for my larger bun. Highly recommend!
My little guy kept digging out his litter box, which caused me so much frustration and clean up time. I was worried that the metal would be too harsh on his feet, but it doesn’t bother him at all— if I ever worry I just put some hay on top. Thanks to this metal screen, I have a mess free space, a happy bunny, and a happy owner. Thank you!
These are so nice to have! My rabbits are diggers and this prevents them from kicking everything in the litter box out. It gets pretty gross after a while and can be hosed off or replaced. It didn't take very long at all to receive it even though it was custom made to fit our litter box. Highly recommend!
General Note
General Note: Ensure your rabbit doesn't ingest large quantities of any toy. It's important they don't become satiated and neglect their essential high-fiber diet, crucial for maintaining a healthy digestive system. If you find your bunny actually eats large portions at once, we advise removing the toy and only offering it to them for brief periods under supervision.
