Young  Oat is meant for bunnies a year and older due to the seeds being a bit harder than Mature Oat. 1st Cutting (early Harvest) Younger Oat is mostly green, however, if it is later in the year can change the color to a more brown color - season factors can change this and make younger oat more brown. It is not mature oat when it is brown. It was cut earlier and flavor is same. Young Oat can change to a more brown through the season before the next harvest. Weather issues can also make Young Oat browner.

Ever since I started giving this to my bunny Bailey, her sensitive digestive system has improved. She eats more hay than ever! This is great for bunnies going through a molt. Encouraging them to eat hay will help them keep the hair moving through their digestive tract.. People who are allergic to grass hays may find Oat a better alternative. Guaranteed freshness and pesticide free! Mini bales are perfect to mix and match with our other hays. Easy to store until you're ready to open.

Guaranteed freshness, dye free and pesticide free! Don't be fooled by other mini-bales now being sold at pet stores. Compare the hay quality and the weights of these mini-bales against the ones in the store. These mini-bales pack in more the buck!

NOTE:

  • IF ITEM IS IN "PRE-ORDER"MODE: THAT MEANS THAT WE WILL BE GETTING HAY WITHIN A WEEK, so you can still order but the shipping of your entire order may delayed a few days. (just depends how close you order to when we pick up and that varies week to week). IF YOU WANT THE OTHER ITEMS SOONER, THEN ORDER THEM SEPARATELY
  • Young Oat is meant for bunnies a year and older.   The younger harder seed heads are more difficult for bunnies under a year to digest.. Oat's high fiber and sweeter taste is a favorite with bunnies. A great companion hay to mix in with others. Perfect for rabbits that snub their noses up at all other hays, or just a perfect way to mix in a little variety.
  • The photo of hay expanded is of Mature Oat for size reference only. About all of the super compressed mini bales we sell Hays are brought directly from the field to our supplier's sealed air conditioned facilities to assure its freshness and to assure it isn't exposed to rodents or birds as barn stored hay can be.

Great Rabbit Treat

The oat hay in this bale was perfect. My buns don't like the thick, shiny strips of hay and this bale was obviously cut at a perfect time. My fosters love it.

Not great

I’m trying to add oat hay to my 2 older buns diet. Neither of them are thrilled with this. They eat some but not the larger pieces. I wind up throwing quite a bit away. Will try some other hay for variety.

Bun loves it

I know it says to give to buns a year or older, but my lionhead is 8 months old and going through his first molt. I unwrapped this bale and literally just plopped it down in his area. He loves sitting near it and munching away! He has other hay available as well, but this has definitely become a favorite!

I have looked all over and purchased hay from all the well known company's as well as the smaller businesses like this one to find a hay my picky bunny will eat. The closest I got was Small Pet Selects Oat hay, but he only likes the oats, not the hay... He liked their organic hay but they stopped selling it. He won't touch any other hay, until now. He doesn't just eat the oats in this bale, he is eating the actual hay stalks, too. Even the thick ones. The smell of this hay has more of a hay smell that I smell around horse farms rather then a grassy smell from a lot of other company's. Maybe that's the difference. Plus, it's organic! I think my bun will only eat organic. Lol! Thank you so much, Binky Bunny! I hope you sell Timothy hay someday so I can hopefully find one he will like in that flavor. If your bun is picky, give this a try! 18 companies later, and this is his fave.

Terrible Quality!

Been buying this grass for my fur baby for several years back when it was $9.99, she loved it and could not have enough of it, unfortunately not only has it increased in price but it has also increased in the amount of dust and brown pieces with little to no seeds or stems. My girl ended up with an upper respiratory infection that I am convinced was caused by this dust. I did voice my concerns about this grass and it was out stock for a while so when it came back in stock I thought it was a new harvest but it is not, it is still the same horrible quality.

I am so sorry about the bad quality of hay you received. This is one of the favorites and so it is usual, but we will look into this with our supplier. Always feel free to reach out to us directly as well so we can be sure to refund or replace whenever you have a problem. We will be in touch!

Tasty Hay

My 11 year old bunny is not a big hay eater. He seems to love eating this oat hay so it makes me very happy. I will continue to buy it for him to keep him healthy.

Great For Picky Bunnies!

All four of my bunnies love this hay! I adopted two of my bunnies when they were three months old, and now that they're older, I've been having a hard time getting them to phase out of their alfalfa, but this hay has helped a lot! They even choose to eat it over their alfalfa.

Great For Picky Bunnies!

My bunnies are super picky, and they love this hay. I've been trying to find a hay that they'll eat other than alfalfa (they're at that age where they need to phase out), and this does the trick!

Bunny approved

My bunnies really like this hay, even my finicky bunny who only recently started eating hay regularly at his 9 years of age. In the past I have tries all of the oxbow hays and all of the small pet select hays. My finicky bunny only liked the third cutting timothy from SPS, but now he also likes this hay and it's wonderful. I love the size and prize of it and they love the taste.

The ONLY hay my bunny will eat!

I rescued a bunny who prefers to chew on cardboard, baseboards, carpet, metal, anything except hay... until we got her this oat hay! She LOVES it and will graze on it all day. Always fresh and a perfectly sized mini bale. Forever a loyal customer. A+

Great Hay!

This mini bale was shipped promptly, and my bunnies love it! We're having a bit of a shortage of good oat locally, and this was a nice option.

My Bunnies Love this hay

I have tried so many different types of hay. My bunnies both eat this hay and love it. They choose this hay over their pellets. I will buy this hay again.

Young Oat Hay

My girl loves her oat hay but your Young Oat Hay is by far her favorite Oat Hay. Thank you for a great product.

Great hay! They love it!

Even my non-hay eater munches this stuff down! Big hit with all of them.

Bunnies love it and I can breath!

This hay is a hit! When I adopted my first bunny I quickly leaned that I was very allergic to timothy hay. Not wanting to give up on living with bunnies, I tested out other types of hay and found that this oat hay was the best option for everyone. I have minimal trouble with this hay in part because it generally is less triggering, but also because these mini bales are far less dusty than other companies' hay bales. Our rabbits love this stuff too and will do their best to get inside the bag of hay while I am re-supplying their boxes. I highly recommend this hay for anyone who can't use timothy, you will love it, but more importantly, your bunnies will love it.

A new favorite!

My bunny had never tried oat hay before, and he loves it! He was actually recovering from GI stasis, and I believe that the nice coarse texture of this hay- and the amount that he eats!- helped him get back on track.

Picky Eaters

I hate to say anything negative about Binky Bunny's products. This is an adorable store with many great products that you can't get elsewhere, and I love the name Binky Bunny. This may or may not be a great product, but I have very picky fur children--4 piggies and 2 bunnies--who won't touch it. I'm annoyed with them because I try to vary their diet and toys for their benefit, but they are stubborn and not fond of change. I'm giving this product a 3 because it should not be judged solely on my little boogers. I love them, but...............they can be difficult.

Thanks for carrying this product!

My 13 year old rabbit stopped eating Timothy hay after a recent bout of gut stasis. I tried orchard grass hay, and he nibbled on that, but when I saw how much he loved rolled oats (the vet suggested I give him small amounts with his pellets to encourage eating), I started looking for oat hay. We have a good house rabbit community in the Austin area, but no local retailers carry oat hay. You are the only online store that offers the mini bales and had oat hay in stock. Looks like a winner so far. When I put a flake in his pen this morning, he immediately grabbed a piece and started eating it, even though I had just put rolled oats in his food.

Great Hay! My Bunny Can't Get Enough!

My bunny has always liked oat hay, but she LOVES this stuff! It is a great quality hay at at great price. The hay is fresh and smells great. The packaging is good too, making it easy to store. I will definitely purchase this again.

Seem to like it

Tried this for the first time and they seemed to like it so it's bunny approved.

Great value and convenience

Mini bales give bunnies a deconstruction project while encouraging them to eat more hay. My kids love young oat, and it's so nice being able to have it delivered. For the expanded volume, convenience and freshness, the price is very good.

I thought the hay would be greener, but my guinea pig is munching on it so I'm happy.

yum yum

Amber bunny loves it! Momma loves that it comes in neat little bales.

Good stuff!

My bun loves this hay.
If you have an Angora rabbit though be prepared for the oats to get stuck in their fur. He loves it too much for me to take it away though!
Only disappointment was I was surprised how much it cost to ship. Although I had several other items in my order, it wasn't that large or heavy an order. It also took a solid week for me to receive it. I gave allowance due to the fact it was a holiday week but it was only one day. If my bunny didn't love this hay so much I probably would go back to buying hay from the local pet store.

Good size, ok quality

Well it's winter so can't expect the best greenest batch, pigs are a bit less interested than in the greener, but less cost effective Oxbow bags. But they still like it. The mini bale is a really useful size for 2 guinea pigs to consume over a couple of weeks.

They like it

It's by far a better quality hay than can be purchased in the pet stores and my bunnies seem to like it just fine

Great for when my bunny is molting

This Oat Hay is a life saver for when my bunny is molting. My bunny would ingest a lot of his fur no matter how much we comb him and it clogs up his digestive system. To make matters worse, it causes him not to eat as much because hes uncomfortable and he becomes an extremely picky eater. But the Oat Hay always manages to get him eating again. He especially loves the seeds! Also, it's awesome how tightly packed this small bale of oat hay is.

Tasty but difficult to eat for rabbits with teeth problems

I ventured into oat hay because my rabbits became bored of timothy. There was a lot more golden than I expected; it was nearly half golden. My rabbit, Toasty, is missing his incisors but has intact molars. He has only slight difficulty with Timothy, but only eats it when he is really hungry and desperate. Toasty has a lot of difficulty with the young oat hay, especially the golden stalks. Although, unlike the mature oat, he is able to eat most of it. I rated this 4 stars because he seems to think it is worth his effort; it is his favorite hay. He has a raging sweet tooth and was very obese when I adopted him. It just makes me feel bad when I watch the hay fall out of his mouth and he has to try multiple times. My other rabbit, Alice, prefers it as well.

Mini Bale Oat Hay

This was bigger than expected because it was really packed tight. The bunnies just loved this nice hay and I give as an extra treat along with meadow grass or timothy hay. I will order again!!!
